Services

Dr. Sid Molayem’s impeccable services result in flawless smiles. We’re excited to offer our patients' prestige orthodontics in Beverly Hills and Encino, California. Our personal care plans and detailed techniques will ensure you get your best smile.

WHY GET BRACES?

Many people think the purpose of braces is just to make a beautiful smile, and while we all love watching our patients achieve perfect teeth, it is more important that we straighten our teeth to facilitate long-term oral health. It’s a fact: Straight teeth with a harmonious bite trap fewer bacteria and food, are easier to clean, and avoid unhealthy forces.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Braces are metal attachments to teeth that are connected by a metal wire. They slowly and safely pull your teeth into alignment to create a beautiful smile and healthy bite. Check out the simulation video on this page.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

When you receive braces in Beverly Hills and Encino, California, your treatment can take anywhere between 18 and 30 months, depending on how much your teeth need to move. Aggressively moving teeth to shorten treatment time can put too much pressure on your teeth and cause root resorption, or shortened roots. Once the teeth are in the right place, some minor refinements are done, and the teeth are held in place, so they do not drift back into their original position. The longer your teeth are retained in position, the longer they will stay straight.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The cost of braces, as well as Invisalign®, can cost anywhere from $2,000 to $6,000. The cost is mostly dependent on the complexity of the case, and the time it takes to complete treatment. In making your decision to choose the right orthodontist, it is important to consider how much interaction patients will have with their providers. The materials used may also change the price a little, but the best way to get an estimate is to come in for a free consultation.

DOES IT HURT?

Moving teeth, whether with braces or Invisalign®, will cause some mild soreness each time they are adjusted. There are some simple home-care remedies that can be done to relieve the discomfort, such as:

  • Warm salt-water rinse
  • Ibuprofen or other over-the-counter pain medication
  • Eating soft foods
BRACES VS INVISALIGN®

WHY CHOOSE BEVERLY HILLS BRACES AND DR. SID MOLAYEM

With over 35 years of experience, Dr. Sid Molayem has seen orthodontics change a lot. New technologies have diminished the need for new orthodontists to practice techniques and skills that are required to manually manipulate orthodontic devices to move teeth. The trend has been to automate and delegate; in other words, let the computers and assistants do the work. And while new technology has always offered new opportunities for patients to achieve beautiful results, we prefer to run Beverly Hills Braces as a boutique. You and your smile will always get Dr. Molayem’s meticulous attention to detail at every visit. Contact us today at 310-278-9101 to set up your appointment with our orthodontist.

WHAT ARE THEY?

Clear braces are an option similar to traditional braces, except the brackets, which are bonded to the teeth, are made of ceramic, and match the shade of the teeth. They are less noticeable than traditional metal braces, but they work just as well to create a beautiful smile. Much like braces, they are always working because they are always on your teeth.

HOW ARE THEY DIFFERENT?

Clear braces are less noticeable than metal braces. They can move teeth faster than Invisalign® and move teeth in some ways that Invisalign® cannot. However, clear braces are somewhat weaker than metal braces, they can stain more easily over time, and they can make it harder to clean your teeth than Invisalign®.

HOW MUCH MORE DO THEY COST?

Clear braces in Beverly Hills, California, are slightly more expensive than metal braces. You can assume that the cost will be approximately $500 more for the clear option.

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW?

Some patients at Beverly Hills Braces who choose traditional braces opt to have clear braces on just the upper teeth and traditional metal braces on the bottom teeth to make their treatment more aesthetic.

CLEAR BRACES OR INVISALIGN®?

Sometimes Invisalign® is not an option because the aligners are limited by how they can move teeth. More importantly, if you are the kind of person who is not good about remembering to wear your Invisalign® aligners, clear braces may be the best option to get your treatment done without having the treatment time dragged out due to lost clear aligners.

If you have any questions about clear braces, we invite you to contact us at 310-278-9101 and talk with our orthodontist, Dr. Sid Molayem.

The biggest revolution in orthodontics has been the introduction of Invisalign®. We can now straighten teeth without the headaches of irritating brackets or the difficulty of keeping your teeth clean.

WHAT IS IT?

Invisalign® is a company that produces a set of clear teeth trays that successively move teeth into the position prescribed by your orthodontist.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Invisalign® is best used for certain types of tooth movement, including:

  • Closing gaps between teeth
  • Rotating or pushing teeth into alignment
  • Widening or narrowing your arch
  • Correcting crowded teeth
  • Correcting open bites and overbites
WHY INVISALIGN®?

Invisalign® is great because it is barely visible to the human eye and can achieve beautiful results. The aligners can be taken out during eating or brushing, but this treatment requires dedication from the patient to wear them as much as possible.

HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK?

Check out the link to our iTero® page to learn more about how your teeth are scanned and how your personalized treatment plan is set up at Beverly Hills Braces.

During your first appointment, Dr. Sid Molayem will take digital x-rays. We will also scan your teeth with our iTero® machine to show you what your teeth look like in 3D and to show you a simulation of how your teeth will move into alignment.

Once you approve the treatment plan, we will send the prescription to the Invisalign® company to produce your aligners. It takes about two weeks to set up the whole thing, but once your aligners come in, you will be on your way to a beautiful smile.

Are you ready for a brand-new smile? Contact us today at 310-278-9101 to set up your consultation, and we can help you find out if Invisalign in Beverly Hills, California, is right for you.

At Beverly Hills Braces, we offer Invisalign that can be used to correct minor tooth problems without breaking the bank. For patients who qualify, Invisalign Express can be delivered as a set of 5 or 10 clear aligners. Dr. Sid Molayem can fit you with Invisalign, starting at $2500. Please call 310-278-9101 for a consultation about Invisalign Express in Beverly Hills, California.

If you are looking to get your teeth whiter, the best time is when your braces come off. At Beverly Hills Braces, we offer in-office power whitening kits for our patients in Beverly Hills, California. Dr. Sid Molayem can help determine if teeth whitening is a good solution for you. We also offer home kits that can be used to touch up and make your teeth look their very best! Are you ready for a smile that will light up the room? Call 310-278-9101 to schedule your visit today!

WHAT IS ITERO® DIGITAL SCANNING?

The iTero® is a revolutionary way for Dr. Sid Molayem to scan your teeth in 3D without needing traditional impressions. The scan is highly accurate and gives us a way to send information to Invisalign® and get your custom-made aligners faster.

Digital scanning was designed to replace the original system for taking impressions. Since the scanning technology has become so accurate and detailed, we have no need for the old system of taking impressions. So no more of those gross, gooey impressions that make you gag! We can then use the scan to show you a simulation of how your teeth will move into position and what the final result will look like. It’s that easy.

DOES IT HURT?

No. Don’t be silly.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

The scan only takes about 10-15 minutes, but give yourself about an hour for the entire consultation with X-rays.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The scan is included as part of the cost for your Invisalign® treatment.
Still have some questions about how we use iTero® digital scanning in Beverly Hills and Encino, California? We invite you to call Beverly Hills Braces at 310-278-9101 and talk with our helpful orthodontist today or to make an appointment to renew your smile!

A digital practice has its perks! Our state-of-the-art digital X-ray machine in Beverly Hills and Encino, California, allows Dr. Sid Molayem to take beautiful X-rays with great clarity and minimal radiation exposure. Since we take all our own digital X-rays in our office, the images are instantly ready to help diagnose any problems and establish a treatment plan your orthodontic care. During your evaluation, we will also use the X-rays to check for any abnormalities and help you plan if and when you need to have your wisdom teeth removed.

WHAT KIND OF MACHINE DO YOU USE?

Beverly Hills Braces uses the 2017 model Carestream 8100 SC.

HOW MUCH RADIATION EXPOSURE AM I GETTING?

Glad you asked. We know some of you are science geeks like us, so if you want the real details on how much exposure there is with digital X-rays, here are the raw numbers as given by the manufacturer:
Panoramic X-ray: 75-102 mGy.cm2
Cephalometric X-ray: 28-37 mGy.cm2

HOW HARMFUL IS THAT?

Dental X-rays are within the safe margin. If you are getting X-rays from the dentist on a regular prescribed basis, your chances of having any adverse effects are nearly non-existent unless you have a pre-existing condition. We actually get more radiation from living in a big city for a year than we do from X-rays taken in a dental office.

IS THERE ANY DANGER BEING IN THE OFFICE WHILE OTHER PATIENTS ARE GETTING X-RAYS?

Our machine has such an accurate area of focus while taking an X-ray that minimal radiation escapes past the patient’s mouth and sensor. In fact, if you are standing 6 or more feet away from the X-ray beam, even if you are in the same room, you are completely safe.

CAN I GET A COPY OF THE X-RAYS?

Since they are digital, any images we gather of your teeth, whether they be radiographs or photos, can be easily e-mailed to you or other healthcare professionals on your dental team. Just ask!

If you have more questions about digital X-rays and how our orthodontist uses them as part of your treatment, or if you would like to make an appointment, we invite you to call our practice today at 310-278-9101. We are always happy to help!

WHAT KIND OF MACHINE DO YOU USE?

Retainers hold the teeth in their new positions to prevent them from relapsing back to their old positions. Patients at Beverly Hills Braces usually get retainers once their braces are removed. Patients need to wear retainers as much as possible for the first year, and then only at night following.

Sometimes retainers can be made with small springs to make minor tooth movements and can act as a replacement for a really short Invisalign® treatment.

WILL IT AFFECT MY SPEECH?

When you first get a retainer, it can affect your speech a little. This will go away after a week or so once the tongue has learned how to adapt to a new position.

WHAT DO THEY LOOK LIKE?

These days, our retainers in Beverly Hills and Encino, California, come in two forms: acrylic with a metal wire, or something that looks more like a stiffer Invisalign® tray. Depending on your dental needs and aesthetic desires, we will customize one to fit your new smile.

WHAT IF I STOP WEARING MY RETAINER?

Patients who stop wearing their retainer are likely to experience some relapse, which is when the teeth move back to the position they were in before braces. If you have lost your retainer – even if it has been a long time – please come in for an evaluation. For a small replacement cost, you can prevent your teeth from relapsing further and save yourself thousands of dollars down the road.

Got any questions about how retainers work? Come in for a free consultation with our orthodontist, Dr. Sid Molayem, or call us at 310-278-9101 to figure out what it will take to fix your smile.

ACCELEDENT® TECHNOLOGY

AcceleDent® is a small medical device that fits in your mouth in between your Invisalign® trays. It works by applying gentle pulses on the teeth and mouth. Some people think these vibrations help the teeth move faster, but the real story is a little more indirect. When people go from one Invisalign® aligner to the next, the new aligner is trying to push the teeth and move treatment along. Most people find that the new aligner doesn’t fit perfectly. Technologies like AcceleDent® work to set the aligners on the teeth more completely, which then helps speed up tooth movement.

The AcceleDent® device is used for 20 minutes daily and can shorten treatment time by up to 35-40%. It also helps create more comfort for patients who are undergoing any type of orthodontic treatment. But if the pain is your concern, our orthodontist has other tips and tricks to help you with that.

PROPEL ORTHODONTICS

Propel Orthodontics is a patented system that speeds up the process of tooth movement and can help our patients at Beverly Hills Braces achieve results in less than a year. Propel helps produce faster results by creating small perforations in the jawbone to stimulate bone growth and movement. These perforations activate the jawbone to allow teeth to move more easily.

Using Propel is a relatively painless process, and it can reduce the time of treatment to mere months instead of years. However, Propel is more invasive than traditional treatments, and Dr. Sid Molayem may not recommend it for many patients, depending on their situation.

If you are interested in treating your smile with accelerated orthodontics in Beverly Hills and Encino, California, we invite you to set up a free consultation with our orthodontist to see if you are a good candidate. You can schedule your visit by calling us today at 310-278-9101.

Sometimes our orthodontist may recommend that your child begins orthodontic treatment before all of their permanent teeth have come in. If we notice a pattern forming that will cause the permanent teeth or the bite to have problems in the future, we may recommend doing a two-phase treatment. The first phase focuses on guiding the teeth into a healthier and more aesthetic position, and the second phase makes sure that everything is straight and aligned.

If you notice that your child is developing an underbite or overbite, that their teeth are coming in crooked, or some other tooth-positioning problem, it is a good idea to bring them in for an early consultation. At Beverly Hills Braces, Dr. Sid Molayem recommends that all kids to come in for a preliminary consultation when they are 7 years old to address and intercept any problems that may be developing while the bone is still soft and moveable.

As we get older, our bone calcifies, and the teeth do not move as easily. If we let these problems progress past a certain point in life, sometimes the only option left to correct major orthodontic issues that are neglected in adolescence might be surgery.

Here are some other things to look out for that can help you know whether your child may need early orthodontic treatment.

  • Does your child breathe through their mouth often or while they sleep?
  • Does your child have a finger- or thumb-sucking habit?
  • Do your child’s upper and lower teeth cross each other?
  • Does your child’s bite close improperly or not close completely?

If any of these are of concern to you, please reach out to us to set up a free consultation about your child’s early orthodontic treatment in Beverly Hills and Encino, California. Prepare your child for a lifetime of great smiles! Set up your consultation by calling us today at 310-278-9101.
